Based on an in-depth analysis of the balance between the ecosystem of the vine and man, biodynamic viticulture at Château Du Tertre is seen as a form of gentle medicine.

80% of the vineyard is now managed biodynamically. Preparations made from mineral, plant and animal matter are integrated into the heart of the terroir according to the rhythms of nature linked to the movements of the moon.

In an ever-changing world, 2008 marks new trials. The new, freshly replanted plots are leading us to think differently, to draw inspiration from ancestral methods and traditions that have always existed, to be as close to nature as possible and to listen to it.

One of the outcomes of this reflection was the decision to plant hedgerows that would provide a home for a number of species, thereby restoring a constantly improving environmental balance. Three kilometres of hedgerows shelter predators, protecting the vines from pests. Our vineyard, which includes meadows, trees, copses and a stream, provides corridors and shelter for flora and fauna, giving the vineyard this essential balance.

In fact, we are seeing more and more insects, birds and mammals. The sheltered and protected auxiliary fauna is an undeniable support in the daily fight against certain vine parasites and pests. This growing biodiversity enriches and stimulates the productivity of our estate.
